Another one of those "Why and what was I thinking" moments..
Teaching my three daughters how to drive was like kiss the pavement, where's the Tylenol and not just one drink but the whole bottle type of moment.
I guess what all parents go through at that point in time and the beginning for each of them or it is/was for each of us was like getting behind the wheel of something foreign but scarily exciting. You know that moment when you learn to adjust the seat, get the feel of the steering wheel underneath the sweaty palms of your hands. Trying to pay attention to know where everything is and what switch is for what purpose or instrument and all the while you keep saying in your head, "okay, already", "how do I turn it on?" That precise moment where you turn the key, hear the motor and shift the gears--- and--- then the yell comes out--- "HIT THE BRAKES!!!" One of those times you should have listened moments--- foot on the brake, start the car, put it in gear and slowly take your foot of the brake and give it gas.
How many times have I heard and found myself saying it? Until my girls learned. Now, I look back it was a great moment but I also came away with a little more gray and found new words to add to my "Bobbie Dictionary"... :)
It has been some time now and they are good driver's not to say they have had their moments. My oldest, like her mom, had problems with backing up and parallel parking. She is great with both now and mom still has not mastered the art of parking parallel, YET.. My youngest two were learning together. Holy Cow. One on the brakes the other on accelerator. If could have seen us on the road you might have said "mom has some serious head banging music".. Can you say whiplash? :)
What was I thinking, teaching two at once. I remember one day,I actually came home jumped out of the car and kissed the ground, saying "oh dear Lord, why me?"
Now this was some time ago now and I miss those times, special times, with them and they are really good drivers now and still Mom puts her car in R--- RUN.. Oh dear..
Thanks-----
